rtcraft Nameplate & Stencil was founded in August of 1964 by Pete Armato. The company was capitalized with a $5,000.00 loan from Pete’s father, and the loan was repaid in full on August 7, 1969. In 1969 Artcraft acquired the equipment and customer base from the nameplate division of Allen Marking for $4,998.92. The loan was repaid in full on July 7, 1972.

Initially, Artcraft was located at 518 Walnut. In 1970 the business was moved to 3824 Independence Avenue.

ete worked as a craftsman and his wife Theresa worked as a bookkeeper. For many years they worked 12 hour days and Pete would do much of the quoting at night. In 1972 Pete’s son Joe joined the business working in production and about 1975 Pete’s son Andrew joined the company working with computers and computer driven devices.

n 1994 the company acquired a large shear capable of cutting 3/16” Stainless Steel and became very competitive in the Plaque and Signage business. Along with the years of experience, involving the chemistries of etching various metals, and the booming economy Artcraft started producing some of the nation’s best quality etched Plaques and Signage.

On April 25, 2003 St. Paul Stamp Works, Inc., one of Artcraft’s largest customers, acquired Artcraft Nameplate & Stencil and Joe Armato became the general manager.

On June 30, 2006 Artcraft moved to a new larger location at 1130 Elmwood Ave in Kansas City Missouri.
